Re-inking, a Cougar, a Bear, Cyclonic Winds, and -10 Celcius Temperatures

It’s been an exciting day in Southern Oregon. It started with a bear overturning all of the garbage bins in the neighborhood and dragging the trash to my front yard. It’s nothing new—the bear tears up the neighborhood every Tuesday because it’s garbage pickup day and all of those aromatic bins are on the street just inviting trouble. Cleaning up other people’s garbage is bad business — I now know that my neighbors throw their dirty diapers away in the trash.

Secondly, there was a cougar spotted in the local park. That’s not a big deal. We have cougars in town now and then, and last year, there was a deer kill two houses down the street. No human has ever been attacked, and no dogs, either. Still, I look twice when I take my furry brethren out for our nightly stroll.

Thirdly, a Pacific cyclone has arrived with 90 mph winds and a foot of snow. The local weather reporters are going nuts about hurricane-level winds. Electricity has been knocked out in parts of Ashland. I’m hustling to get this posted before the lights go out.

Lastly, after the Pacific Cyclone leaves the area, the Polar Express is dropping down for a visit. It’s blessing us with 15 F (-10C) temperatures over the holiday. Beautiful Southern Oregon is a perfect storm of bears, cougars, snow, black ice, and cyclones.

Today I inked in the roof shingles and the chimney bricks for my cover book’s cover image. As I’ve been saying, I’m making one inch of progress a day and keeping the faith that this project will actually be finished before Jan 1, 2020.
