The Final Version of the Cover Page Image Placed in the IngramSpark Cover Page Template

This is the finalized cover image. I figured out how to place the image into the IngramSpark template so that the ISBN number is on the top layer — I read the instructions and followed them. The instructions are “keep the images inside the pink area.” I had placed the image outside of the pink zone and then tried scaled it up down to the bleed lines. It didn’t work — it just covered the ISBN bar code. When I dropped the image inside of the pink boundaries and scaled the image up to the bleed lines, the ISBN bar code floated above the image perfectly. When in doubt, read the manual.

IngramSpark requires all images to be in the CMYK color space. For my first book I laboriously converted 40 JPEGs to CMYK before importing them into InDesign. Today I discovered that InDesign can export entire projects as CMYK images — there’s no need to convert JPEGs to CMYK before you place them into InDesign. InDesign has a billion features that I know nothing about!

Place your cover image in the pink area.
