Back to Work in the Real World

Today my part-time job started. I’ll be working until December. My job is rewarding, challenging, filled with success, and with failure. One of my challenges is getting the new trainees up to speed in the first couple of weeks before they realize that the job requires more than sheer enthusiasm: it demands diligence, patience, imagination, and commitment. Some recruits get it completely; some don’t. No matter how many of my cohort succeed, it’s always bittersweet when someone drops out of the program.
