Raising the cuteness factor of my children's picture book

Looked through my book today and was impressed by the lack of consistency in how I draw my characters. My original concept was to make everyone about 12-years old. Unfortunately, I didn’t stick to the plan. On one page Betty is 10-years old, and on the next she’s 25. This is problem with all of the characters. The big question is, will I redraw the entire book? Or will I wearily publish an amateurish shambles?

Time will tell.

Chore Day, Jan 9, 2021, Plus Larry and Gary, the Ubiquitous Rats

Gary is taking advantage of Larry’s good nature.

Today I did the laundry and the vacuuming, but I passed on the yard work. I had planned to prune several trees, but it was freezing and I just didn’t feel like leaving the cozy house. Or was I simply procrastinating?

Larry and Gary, my pair of rats, have appeared in the first two Jimmy Jay books as background characters. They’ve been completely silent so far, but who knows, they may one day be heroes.

On page 35 we see Buddy looking for his family in the Monarch Sanctuary. Unfortunately, there are millions of butterflies and his family of rare purple-faced Monarch Butterflies is nearly impossible to find. These pointy-nosed, blue-eyebrowed butterflies are telling Buddy that he’s out of luck. Blue-eyebrowed Monarchs are even rarer than purple-faced butterflies!
