Chore Day, March 8, 2020 -- Cooking and Family Time

My children’s picture book project — only 38 more images to finish!

My art time today consists of thinking dark thoughts, such as: Will I be able to develop the skills I will need to create the books I want to create? Will I have the time to do what I want to do? Will my books sell? Can I make a living as an illustrator? Am I nuts to stake my livelihood on Art?

My friend, these are all good questions. My response to them is…what a load of pointless trolling. These pessimistic thoughts come out of the ancient past and arrive in an endless stream, a river of discouraging bad advice. When I step back and watch and listen to these mindless thoughts, I laugh and think, “Hey, dismal thoughts! Thanks for your unsolicited bad vibes, but I right now I have to make a big pot of three-bean chili.”

That’s what I did — I made a huge pot of chili and, as always, a batch of veggie burgers for my furry children.

On the art front, I checked in to Clip Studio Paint to remind myself that I have a project in the works.
