Chore Day, March 14 -- A No Cooking Day and Clip Studio Paint Brushes

For the first time in years I didn’t cook batches of food for the upcoming week. Of course, I did bake the bean burgers for my furry companions, but for myself, I decided to just wing it this week. In stead of creating a stockpile of food, I’ll make salads and sandwiches, and perhaps some soba noodles with broth and veggies.

On the art front I reviewed the paintings for my new book and found that they seem too “digital.” I’ve been using the default Clip Studio brushes and, in my hands, they lack character and texture. I know that some artists create great work with the default brushes, but I’m not working at that level…yet.

I created my first book using Procreate and I used Frankentoon’s brushes and color palettes. Those brushes went a long way toward giving my paintings that traditional feel that I want to have in my next book. In my quest to get a more traditional look with Clip Studio Paint, I decided to buy Brian Allen’s Clip Studio Paint brushes from his FlylandDesigns, com shop. There are about 300 brushes to sort through. Fortunately the brushes are categorized into manageable groups. I’ve seen Brian Allen’s awesome work and I can see what his brushes can do in his hands — the question is, what can I do with his brushes?
